The customer is a leading Geographical Institute based in Belgium and it  presence in some European counties.

Business Challenge

Due to the striking impact of 3D digital maps in providing citywide macro information for varied applications, the customer sought AABSyS to prepare a 3D model for a part of Belgium, using contour information provided by them.

Solution

Exhibiting long-standing experience in terrain modeling, AABSyS used scanned and referenced data for the digitization of features encompassing roads, railways, rivers, streams, and contours in individual layers. The contours were assigned a Z-axis value and customer recommendation was considered for missing height. In the final step, Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN) was created and various 2D-thematic layers such as roads, railways, rivers, and streams were overlaid.
